Balmaprat
Information
Josep Maria del Águila and Mayte Pellicer's passion for wine goes back a long way, but it was not until 2008 that they decided to make their living in it: the modest family business Balmaprat produces just 1,600 bottles a year, with the aid of Adrià Pérez, head winemaker at Cims de Porrera.
The establishment is on Porrera's "avenue of wineries", Carrer Prat de La Riba. Inside the winery, the barrels are surrounded by slate to help keep just the right level of humidity. Upstairs there is a small tasting room decorated with old amphoras, containers and farming implements, and even the property deed to a spring.
