1st Wine Pleasures International Wine Tourism Conference

Last 26th January, the Priorat County Tourist Office took part in the First Wine Pleasures International Wine Tourism Conference and Workshop in Sitges organised by the company, Wine Pleasures.  The event brought together around twenty tour operators from around the world, who specialise in Wine Tourism or who were interested in offering this product within their tourism portfolio.  The companies were from countries such as USA, Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, Finland, Polan or Brazil and some offered active tourism in wine regions or others were specialised in golf and gastronomy or even luxury cruises.  

The Priorat Tourist Office participated in the sales event/workshop with tour operators and interviewed around ten companies who had expressed an interest (prior appointment) in the region. The great majority were preparing new packages for 2010.

The conference also included a series of talks given by individuals, companies etc.. who were interested in explaining their experiences in wine tourism. The manager of the Tourism Grant afforded to the Priorat, David Esteller, offered a talk on the grant and efforts to encourage wine tourism in the region.
