Let's make soap with oil

An activity packed with experiences for all the family and small groups!

The workshop is designed to introduce you to the main uses of olive oil, from the olive tree to oil: from maceration for cooking to soap to get the stains out of clothing, and even therapeutic uses.

We'll begin with a brief introduction to various concepts concerning olive oil: how it's made and what it's used for). We'll also run through the other common oils in our area, including those made from almonds, hazelnuts and rice. We'll prepare a maceration with thyme in alcohol (a tincture) and oil (oleate) that we'll use to discuss the world of medicinal plants and their use as a food condiment or as a complement to healthcare. With the tincture we'll make a hydroalcoholic solution for disinfecting hands, and with the oleate a soap to use for your hands or in the shower. You can take them both away with you.
