This municipality was once on a route from the Ebro to Tarragona that was used by generations of travellers in the past. It is characterised by steeply sloping streets and balconies overlooking the river Montsant.

Plats
El Lloar lies in the south-western Priorat, among the south-western foothills of the Montsant massif. It is bounded to the east by the river Montsant, just before it flows into the Siurana.

Gastronomy
Local specialities include the wine of the DOQ Priorat, partridge with olives, omelette in sauce and the sweet pastries known as orelletes and rosquilles.
Festivities
The patron is Sant Domènech (St. Dominic), whose saint's day festivities coincide with the nearest weekend to 4th August, with bell ringing, traditional games, football and dancing. Sant Miquel (St. Michael) is celebrated on 2nd September.
Places to visit
The church of Sant Miquel (St. Michael), built in the 17th century of masonry and dressed stones; the springs known as the Font de Minfami, Font Vella - the latter in a highly picturesque spot and built of limestone, which has supplied the village with water for centuries - and Font de l’Abelarda, also in a charming spot, and the caves of Els Rogerals which, like some other nearby rock shelters, were inhabited in prehistoric times and are of considerable geological interest.
How to get there
It can be reached by road from Falset via the T-710 as far as Gratallops, and then along the T-712; from Móra la Nova by taking the N-420 and then the T-734 from El Masroig to El Molar, then the T-732.
